The modern definition of a "good" politician is one who magnifies the power and revenue of government without regard to the consequences. Passing laws, especially useful ones like "banning light bulbs" and "daylight savings time" are occasionally matched by useless ones that have zero effect on criminals.

Look, the poor woman was grievously wounded. I don't doubt her sincerity one bit, but her personal history doesn't add weight to the rightness (or wrongness) of her position.
