The current Administration has provided free cell phones (paid up and useable) in the past in suppor.. I mean vote.. oh yeah, what I meant to say was "constituents'", ostensibly to help them in keeping up with their community events and organized activities (that WAS our Dear Leader's past employment specialty in ChiTown, right?).
But as of this morning, right here on FOX News Network (in HD no less!), the politi-buzz from the streets was "Damn them Sequestration Torpedos and Limits! This is a job for POTUS Leader" {<cue the Batman Returneth" music score...}
Let's not let no-body take away our needy citizens' rights to make free calls for help from their gov'mint now! Free transit pickups, dorp-offs at the hospital ER and so on, y'know? Like that. Interfering with that sort of lawful activity would be downright undemocratic!
(But... uhmmm... a recent informal check seemed to uncover that these phones was also being used to organize drug drops, gang meetings and so on. Hmmm (...Zhat what we wanna pay fur, Fred? How's 'bout you, Hank? Thet set right with you?)

This program has ballooned from $140M program a few years ago to $2.2 BILLION today. Even the democrats are sounding the alarm that the program is out of control. Now the government is considering "free broadband" for the same group of people.
Geez,...seems we have enough money to expand the freebies to some Americans and foreign entities, but not enough to man control towers and tours at the White House.
is any republican going to acknowledge that this phone program started under reagan and expanded under bush, or you are just going to ignore that and believe it started under obama.

The program started under Reagan as a HOME PHONE service, and expanded under Bush by the FCC. It didnt expload until after Obama was President because HE allowcated funding for it rather than the standard tax collected through phones..
If you want to be accurate, you'd stop blaming Reagan, or Bush..

I was accurate and you acknowledge it. Two republicans are directly responsible for starting a program and expanding it. Forget ending it, bush expanded it, and that was under a republican controlled house and senate. That is a republican program.

The program is called Lifeline, and in '08 it was expanded under Bush TO INCLUDE MOBILE PHONE SERVICE...where it exploded. And it's just the service, not the phone.
AND IT'S NOT TAX PAYER SUBSIDIZED. Everyone who is not in the program and has a cell phone/mobile plan...pays for it. Check your bill.
It is amazing the world you republicans live in. The president that republicans bow down too, is directly responsible for the creation of this phone service, and than was expanded under a republican administration who had control of both chambers, yet in your twisted mind, its obama's program.
