Change the menu.

Breakfast-scramble eggs with lotsa bacon

Lunch-ham sandwiches

Dinner-pork roast

As my parents used to say, you'll eat what you're served, or ya go hungry.

From what I understand about this hunger strike, a large part of the impetus behind the hunger strike has something to do with their Koran's being searched or handled by the guards.

Excuse me for not rallying behind that oh-so-noble cause.

They don't want to eat for stupid reasons, oh well.

Very good. If they don't want to eat, to hell with them.

We are a nation governed by law and moral code. That is what distinguishes us from the barbarous nations.

Habeas Corpus is an undeniable right. Many of the interned at Guantanamo were rounded up in sweeps, and some were 'turned in' for bounty. Yes, some may return to Al Qaeda, but most criminals released return to crime. The fact is, they were never given their day in court. I have no sympathy with someone who has murdered in cold blood. For those who WISH to kill Americans but never have... well, you can't convict someone for their thoughts.

Also remember this - we USE Al Qaeda when it suits us. We were on their SIDE when we were helping them and the Islamic brotherhood to overthrow Mubarek in Egypt and other leaders who are our supposed allies. With friends like that...

All these alleged criminals want is to be charged or put on trial. What we are doing in Gitmo is unconstitutional, and in breach of international law. Its even more appalling in light of the recent study that outed the Bush admin as encouraging and allowing torture, on prisoners whom some were known FOR A FACT to be innocent.

Yet you all mindlessly applaud. Way to go.
so you are a lawyer specializing in international law? and you have seen ALL the evidence against ALL the prisoners? you do know that they were ALL picked up on the battlefield right?

and just how is the bas at guantanamo bay cuba illegal? that base was established after the US freed cuba from the spanish in the spanish american war. we got permission from the cuban government to establish that base, and have paid rent on the land ever since. try reading up on the base sometime.

Great post.

The whole idea of outright killing and detaining those who are guilty by vague unsubstantiated association is what got us into this mess in the first place.

Nobody hates us for our freedom, they hate us because we refuse to let them have theirs. We need to stop meddling in foreign affairs, and when we do actually detain those responsible, give them a military tribunal, and sentence them. Not torture them in an overseas basement for a decade.

The fact is irrefutable: Our foreign policy breeds terrorism. Drone striking villages based on hearsay and torturing people isn't going to stop things, only exacerbate the problem.

Aww...eleven years.
How long should we detain enemy combatants?
How long did we detain German Soldiers after WW2, did we imprison them without a trial. Di we build a prison on an island, this is not what our country is about.

Exactly.

We gave the architects of the Holocaust a fair trial, but we can't let a hijackers brother's cousin's nephew out of Gitmo because it could cause global annihilation?

People buy into the fear tactics way too much, and the right says the left keeps their voter base dependent...
