I'm sure the cops felt justified in the actions they took.
LOL, cops always feel justified in their actions. Especially while they are attempting to kill innocent people, busting down the door and terrorizing people at the wrong address or shooting at a dangerous chihuahua.
The only things I see wrong in this case is that the settlement amount wasn't higher and that a portion didn't come from the cops themselves and the remainder from their fellow officer's pension fund. If cops had to personally pay for their misdeeds, maybe they wouldn't act like complete idiots and thugs so often.
The LAPD has no qualms about giving $4 million out to make this mess go away, yet they're doing everything in their power to not have to honor the $1 million reward for the couple that was held hostage by Dorner in the last day leading up to his death....
LAPD isn't the only agency behind the reward (if they're involved at all). Multiple agencies are refusing to award it.
and what's the rest of the story? How many cops got fired? The people of CA pay the tab, I had nothing to say about it. I want compensation coming out of these cops pension, and the union dispersed. Something good should come out of this.
Are there any updates on the status of the internal investigation? Last I heard 7 of them are on desk assignment since Feb.
They probably didn't want to complete the investigation prior to settlement for obvious reasons.
A big part of the reason it was settled so fast is because the women's lawyer had info that LAPD didn't think they had, and it was used as a bargaining chip in the negotiations. Don't know which info that was, but their lawyer did a radio interview yesterday describing the negotiations and how it was settled so fast and for so little money, in comparison to other cases the city has paid for.

I don't get what you are saying. Wouldn't that be all the more reason to hold out for more $? If they had info the LAPD didn't want released.

So was that German guy with the funny patch of hair on his upper lip. If this had happened in Canada..they would have gotten an apology from the police chief. Litigation state side seems to work - Up here they never give money to anyone other than themselves and their friends.
