Should panhandling be illegal? Is it detremental to society, and infringing on the rights of others?

Panhandling is a service-oriented job. The panhandler will absolve some of your guilt in exchange for money. It's also a fact that the panhandler CREATED the demand for his product (absolution of guilt) similar to how a tire salesman can create demand for his product by spreading nails on the road in front of his shop.

I also loath liars, and professional panhandlers are world-class liars.

I have personally observed a panhandler leave his "post", walk a few blocks, and get into a newish vehicle to drive away.

I never give money to panhandlers. I DO donate to charities that fund homeless shelters and food banks.

Why should panhandling be illegal? If they are not harassing anybody, begging is not infringing on the rights of others any more than the Salvation Army asking for donations.

I also don't like them, don't give them money and agree that most are fakes. But that doesn't mean they should be illegal.

Panhandling is fine as long as it is passive. Holding a sign and cup, fine, aggressively trying to get people to give you money, not fine.

I don't usually give money, but I usually carry dog food in the car. Some street kids have dogs, so why should the poor dogs go hungry because their owners are idiots?
It's always appreciated.

If it were made illegal, then many of the panhandlers would turn to crime. It's the lesser of two evils IMHO.

Let local communities pass laws restricting where it can be done, some intersections simply aren't safe. However, it should not be made illegal on a federal level. I don't think my state should outlaw it, your state can make its own decisions
