Calif. educators sued over English instruction (high school, education, laws, children)

The ACLU's lawsuit describes the educational struggles of three families with Spanish-speaking children attending Compton Unified School District and a San Diego 18-year-old in the Grossmont Union High School District. In each case, schools identified the students as English learners but were later taken out of English language classes and saw their grades drop dramatically in courses where they struggled to understand instruction, the suit alleged.

If everything wasn't offered to them in their "native" language they would have a need to learn english and might make an effort.

Budget cuts in education.

Hire a bilingual teacher and fire who ? The math teacher perhaps or the science teacher ?
Already have to do that with SPED as the law mandates it.

With all this differentiation and need for specialized non-core teachers who will be left ?
