Clearly the left wants to keep idiots in office.... gearing up to get our own version of Hugo Chavez.
Thankfully this wont see the light of day before 2014 and there is a good chance Republicans will keep the house in 14 thereby ending Obamas chance.
Then there is the simple fact that the majority of state legislative bodies are controled by Republicans so it would take a pretty long time to get this ratified.
But you better believe that dems want the chance to get this passed eventually because they like effecient, powerful government and desire the American Hugo.
It may have some advantages. Maybe it would finally get the Republicans off their duffs and get them to nominate a good candidate: A conservative who realizes that govt should be a minor and unimportant part of people's lives, except in major emergencies like wars big enough for Congress to declare them. Instead of candidates who favor govt-provided health care, amnesty for tens of millions of lawbreakers, govt-provided medicine, wild deficit spending etc. And achieving office only by relying on Democrats to nominate even worse ones like Dukakis, Gore, and Kerry, who (unlike Obama) hadn't a prayer of fooling people into thinking they weren't the usual big-govt liberals.
But overall I'd say that the present term-limits arrangement has more advantages than disadvantages, so we should probably let it stay as is.
President Obama has already proven to be one of the greatest Presidents in US History. Given where America was when Bush left office and the great strides we've made since then, most Americans would agree that President Obama should be allowed the opportunity to seek 4 more years in office if he so desires. Why do we have this arbitrary 2 term limit anyways? If Obama remains popular with the majority of Americans and they desire for him to remain their leader, why should he be prevented from seeking a 3rd term? Isn't democracy supposed to be about the will of the people?
