Let the cost over runs begin. Richard Blum who happens to be married to the beast also happens to be the principal owner of Tutor Perini who now can gouge the taxpayers for this ridiculous train.

"The California High-Speed Rail Authority released bid results from five teams seeking to design and build the first section of the state’s high-speed rail line between Madera and Fresno. Proposals submitted in January for the approximately 28-mile segment were scored 70% on price and 30% on technical merit, with the team of Sylmar, Calif.-based Tutor Perini Corp., San Antonio-based Zachry Construction Corp. and Parsons Corp., Pasadena, Calif. coming out on top, primarily due to its low bid of $985.14 million.“We are very excited about it,” says Ronald Tutor, president and CEO of Tutor Perini, which led the team. “It was very important to us as a California-based contractor.”
The authority had estimated the cost for the design-build contract to come in between $1.2 billion and $1.8 billion. “We were low bidder and that was the price we wanted,” Tutor says. “At this stage in our career, if we don’t know what our costs are, shame on us.”

Yes shame on you.

Shame on him? Why?

If the bid was a competitive bid (which it seems to be,) I have no problem with it. A businessperson, who presented the low bid, shouldn't be excluded from bidding because their spouse is a U.S. Senator. Now, if you have any proof that their was some crooked dealing, then present it. Otherwise, it's just whining.

As to the viability of high-speed rail, all of our international competitors, such as China are investing in this service that moves more people, more efficiently and cheaply than air-travel.

Maybe the informaton I'm seeing is out of date, but I don't see mention of Sen. Feinstein's husband on that companies ownership records:

Yeah I'm sure it was real "competitive". Look into Feinstein and hubby. Nothing competitive about it.

Using your logic, there is absolutely no reason for Congress or businesses or anyone to reign in its special interest dealings, because in fact no one can prove crooked dealing.

Is this what you stand for? No proof, therefore there must be no wrongdoing?

Further, this type of Big Business pilfering and pillaging is PRECISELY what liberals have been railing against for years. Either you are a paid poster, or you are severely confused. Which is it?

Good to see Cali moving forward with high speed rail, I can't wait for it to be running all the way up and down the West Coast.
