1. You apparently didn't notice... but they crashed too.

2. The Pentagon is the largest office building on the face of the planet, a target so huge that even the most inexperienced pilot should have had no trouble hitting it at any speed. Of course, any competent pilot engaged in a suicide attack would have dove from above rather than hitting it edgewise at its narrowest profile. The easiest target to crash into in the world... and these guys almost missed it.

That's just it. There was a conspiracy--or a secret plot--for Al Qaeda to fly planes into buildings in the US. It doesn't get any more direct and upfront than that. Bush would have been correct to call it that.

1. It wasn't as small as you think. The "small" hole pointed to by Truthers was not the hole caused on the exterior wall by the original impact. They point to an approximately 13ft wide hole in the c-ring, when the actual impact hole on the external wall was (before the later collapse) approximately 75ft wide. The smaller hole was caused by the airplane's landing gear, since the aircraft fuselage had disintegrated before it got that far.

2. The external hole was (before collapse) exactly what should be expected by a jet of that size hitting a reinforced concrete building. The wings (being essentially just big fuel tanks) do not have the mass or the rigidity to survive an impact with the sort of load bearing columns that constituted the Pentagon's external wall. It would have been like a bug hitting your windshield on the interstate. And one of the wings had already been destroyed by hitting the ground prior to the final impact anyway.

In short... the hole in the Pentagon was exactly what should have been expected by a wide-body jet hitting the building at the speed and in the manner in which it did.

I believe you because you are a spacey engineer.

That's what happens when you take flying lessons and never bother with the part about learning how to land the plane.

Yep. And this thread is another example of how arguing with a Truther is the functional equivalent of being stoned to death with popcorn.

Why do you suppose he didn't or couldn't?

It was a perfect landing, right into the first floor of the building without even mussing the lawn.

No skid marks left for the groundskeeping staff to repair.

You could play croquet on it the same day.

It was a PERFECT landing.
