The anti-slavery movement was spearheaded by people who would today be called "the religious right" and its organization was created by conservative businessmen. Moreover, what destroyed slavery in the non-Western world was Western imperialism. Nothing could be more jolting and discordant with the vision of today's intellectuals than the fact that it was businessmen, devout religious leaders and Western imperialists who together destroyed slavery around the world. And if it doesn't fit their vision, it is the same to them as if it never happened.

Do you agree or disagree? Thomas Parker, the Quakers, John Brown, Martin Luther King were they all not influenced by Christianity?

The Quakers were definitely Christian, but in no way could they be considered on the right. They were the first European Christian sect to believe and practice women's equality, equality between all races, and they were staunchly against war of any kind. Most Quakers today are liberals, just as they would have been several hundred years ago. They definitely held onto the Bible, but had the most liberal interpretation of it out of all Christian sects. Most Christians today would call the colonial Quakers liberal or even heretics if they knew what they believed. Yet they were the only sect to speak up and risk their lives over slavery when this country was founded...funny how terrible those liberals are.
Oh, and most modern Quakers are environmentalists who believe in global warming. And I've seen a few of them with bumper stickers that say, "Think globally, act locally." But what do they know. They were just the first Christians to openly oppose slavery and the oppression of women.

When was the Japanese put in interment camps.. in 1941? I wasn't born yet.. and the Jim Crow laws? Wasn't that regional where the democrats ruled? Blacks in the north were treated with dignity as far as I can remember.
Yep - Jim Crow was entirely a Democrat thing, but the left is so dishonest that that they willfully ignore their racist past.
The irony is that the liberal Democrats are arguably more racist now then they ever were in the early-mid 20th Century.
That's why my points are relevant. Because you demand the proof of global warming while sitting in a church and consuming fairytales that you enthusiastically accept as true even though Darwin basically killed off the need to keep believing in such drivel.
Why are you guys always trying to remove him from public discourse?
Because he doesn't belong in official public discourse. Furthermore, seeing as how there is no proof of him ever existing in the first place, why should we be forced to talk about him?
There is no place for Jesus in government...I'm sorry. And i don't know why you folks insist on trying to inject religious dogma into official policy.
That stuff belongs in church and in private homes. What's so hard about keeping your faith to yourself?

OK...I got a few questions...
Which Christian denomination do you belong to and what was their official stance on Jim Crow?
