After a devastating defeat to Democrats in 2010, all Obama had to do was slide right and endear himself to the electorate. His Presidency would have been immensely more successful. But he didn't. Instead, he succeeded to successfully divide the nation by bashing the very constituents that sent Democrats home. He learned nothing.....his amateurship on full display.

That the President now laments that he can get nothing done in Washington, he need only to hark back to 2010 and how he has conducted himself since.

The Perpetually Lame Duck President has no one to blame but himself for his sordid predicament.

IMO; his biggest mistake is not remmbering that you need the consent of the governed to govern. It was a big mistakes to not take amendments in the ACA. Without this its like so many other things that are never accepted has settled law. Contrast that with Bush's medicare prescritpiton drug law and you see the clear difference;that poltics is the art of compromise as always.

I guess, then, by the OP's logic, he should have swung left after the 2012 election. You know-- the election where he was actually up for election.

How'd he do in that election, anyway?

It was all about gerrymandering and voter suppression. Why should he stop representing the majority of Americans?

Um, no. Democrats lost the supermajority on 2010. Zero comparison to 2012. Republicans hold a healthy majority in the House. Did you forget?

had Obama moved to the right, he might actually have received more votes in 2012 than he did in 2008, like most Presidents running for re-election.

That's precisely his problem. He's ideologically entrenched. The majority of Americans are not. His rigidity is his undoing.

Militant right wingers calling Obama ideologically entrenched is a bit rich.

He stood up to the lunatics and the prostitutes, as he should have.

This thread is absurd.

Obama gets the blame for losing an election he didn't run in, and no credit for winning the one he did?

Good grief...

And for that reason he's got nothing substantive done since 2009.
