Actually, there's a big variety of beliefs about gay marriage within Christian denominations, ranging from ordaining gay ministers and marrying gay couples to believing that they're all going to burn in hell. Christianity isn't one unified group on lots of issues, and it never has been. Sometimes I think the only thing we all have in common is Jesus, and even then there seems to be a big difference between groups on how his gospel is interpreted and lived.

This liberal doesn't care what religion ANYONE practices, but when that religious practice interferes with my rights as a citizen then it becomes a problem.

Go pray to God, Allah, the FSM, I don't care. But keep your religious rules in YOUR OWN life. Don't force me to follow YOUR religious rules.

to which they respond with "this is a Christian nation," then when you defeat that, it's some other vague diatribe about how Christianity is the moral authority blah blah blah.

Though shalt not judge (unless that person is a liberal, a homosexual, a teacher, a woman, a minority, a Muslim, a socialist, or any other group that doesn't fit your narrow view of the world).

They share the same vision. A world without Christians and Capitalism. That's all there is to it.

Love the first amendment? Sorry but that is just utter bunk. Liberals love to be able to say what THEY WANT. Those who disagree with them are told to SHUT UP.

Liberals are happy to suggest that Christians can say what they want inside the closed doors of their own church, but if they step out on the street....SHUT UP. And God forbid the Christian says something heinous like "the homosexual lifestyle is a sin".... in that case, it is BAN THEM, BOYCOT THEM, PROTEST THEM demand they be fired....

No, your side is nowhere near interested in actual first amendment rights. You are for using the first amendment to say what you want, while forcing all opposition to SHUT UP.

Try saying something a typical religious conservative would say, and then try to keep your speaking engagement at a college graduation.

The fact that you have the guts to say the above is almost as shocking as the utter un-American nature of your side’s hatred of free speech and freedom of religion.

Awesome... too bad the rest of your post simply rants rather than makes a case. You know, if you're going to call bull on something it helps to have something vaguely resembling a counter argument.

I'm not sure you have a handle on the First Amendment. It has nothing to do with just anybody telling anybody to "shut up." It has to do with the government telling you to shut up... and a number of other things far more relevant to this thread. I for one have a history of celebrating every stupid thing conservatives tend to say, so as far as I know I have never told anybody on this forum to "shut up." It's far more fun to let you blabber on, and then mercilessly mock you for it.

Christians are allowed to say anything they want, anytime they want, anywhere they want. And as they are not special in that regard, there will be consequences to what, when and where they say it. A call for a boycott is just as much free speech as the claim that homosexuality is a sin. The first amendment is a double edged sword in that regard. It allows you to be just as offended as you are offensive. The symmetry is pretty much perfect.

The first amendment allows you to call out with any blinkered, bigoted, offensive, neandertal grunt you choose. Maybe someday you'll grow a skin thick enough to deal with the response.

Again... you seem a little confused on what the first amendment is about.

Hint #1: If there is a college commencement and you're the invited speaker... guess what? It's not about you. It's the student's graduation. If you have offended them and they decide they don't want you, tough. Go record your brilliant words of wisdom and post them on YouTube.

Let no irony go unsmelted.

Got some stats on that statement? If so, please share.

Christianity and the Murder Rate

http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/...m-and-religion

I'm on my phone so excuse the lack of a works cited page.

Add to the fact that America is vastly Christian, and the incarceration rate for Christians is much higher than Muslims or atheists, and it's a pretty clear conclusion.

I'd love to see facts proving otherwise.

See, you have the freedom of speech to say whatever you want. I have the freedom of speech to say shut up, or you are stupid, or anything I want.
Do you have to shut up? Nope. Do I have to shut up? Nope.

As for boycotts, both sides do it. That is a consequence of saying what you want. I might not like what you say, and may decide to not shop at your store, or hire you for a job.
YOU can say what you want. I don't have to use your services.
