How did American culture develop? It is the blending of English, Irish, Swedish, West African, Chinese, Japanese, American Indian, etc. traditions. Trying to say that there was ever a pure American identity is silly.
No republicans have voiced any opinion yet. Let's see what they will say about this topic. I have read the other threads with Republicans and most do not like mixing races.

Well to be fair, "Deep South" America is like an entirely different country from the PNW or New England. There is still much bigotry between those two cultures.
Gizmo was my old cat's name... she died back in 2001, but I've used her name as an online moniker for longer than that (so didn't want to change it after she died). The "980" is just a random number, based on my old address, since "gizmo" alone was already taken when I first started using it online.

I have met some people from California and they seem to be very open to different cultures and experiences like you. I did enjoy my brief stay in Southern California.
Despite the zingers some folks like to throw around (about us being "intolerant"), I've always found California - at least the coastal regions - to be very open-minded about diversity of all sorts. Probably has to do with the fact that we ARE diverse, incredibly so, and also have a large population of immigrants/transplants. It's pretty hard to be a racist and/or homophobe around here, since not only will others not tolerate that, but you'd also be hard-pressed to find "cultural purity" in many of our residents. I love it here.

I like California too. And let's be honest republicans can be very entertaining.
