Lets be honest folks.

The economy will never be what it used to be prior to the recession. Things have changed. The entire economy has been restructured so that less workers are needed.

Every month we wait for a job report that is just going to release mediocre news. In April, there was good hiring, yes, but it was almost ALL part time work. And the U6 unemployment rate even increased last month!

Lets face it folks. This is the new normal. I want someone to say that isn't the case in this thread and provide evidence to their claim.

I voted for Obama twice! I do NOT regret my vote. There were huge political battles going on that I knew needed to be won. I WANTED Obamacare to survive. And It did. Me, and voters like me succeeded.

But in this term, I am less optimistic about what will happen under obama's second term. I think the unemployment stats will stay roughly where they are at. They won't change. I am thinking the statis quo is what to expect from here on out for the next four years.

So it makes perfect sense to allow all the illegal workers to stay in America, and make it easier for employers to bring in as many new foreign workers as they want. Thank heavens we have bipartisan agreement on this.

The economy will reflect prosperity, and that won't happen under current mismanagement.
As long as producers are penalized and non-producers are subsidized, the system will continue to grind down.

Agree with you. Sorry cannot say this isn't the case.
Obama, etal, including Hillary, want chaos.
Read some Saul Alinsky, Rules for Radicals.
Pointers found all over the internet. People must become so frustrated with the status quo, and the inability to change it, that they are willing to take a chance on something they aren't necessarily comfortable with. Become apathetic enough to think the new "change" is what we want.
They want us to give up on our ideals, our freedoms and the constitution overall.
They want us to feel so frustrated that we give up our constitutional rights for "security." For example, Obama care, ACA.
The financial devastation they are creating is for chaos, IMHO.

Keep your chin up and pray. A higher power can intervene.

I don`t know who "they" is but do you really want to talk about financial devastation and the ACA? 60% of bankruptcies are due to medical bills.

You may well be right about the unemployment situation creeping towards a 'status quo'.

After all, there have certainly been numerous reports about how businesses were 'taking advantage' of the Great Recession to lay off employees whose jobs had become superfluous due to computerization; those jobs will not come back. Plus, of course, this country steadily loses jobs that are being done in India, China, etc.

One trend I do see (in my job) is the number of younger people going into Home Health Care work, caring for WWII generation and Baby Boomers who are requiring such services. At least, those type of jobs cannot be exported. The down side: people who perform the job of Home Health Care worker tend to injure themselves while trying to move the elderly or sick around (I kid you not: I believe that HHC workers are the No. 1 occupation seeking disability benefits, at least in the North Texas area).

I recall when 4 percent unemployment was considered 'full employment'. At some time (I believe in the 70s) it was 'raised' to (I think) 6 percent. Who knows? Someone in Authority may declare that 6.5 percent, or more, is now 'full employment'.

Well, you and your friends who voted for Obama a second time have yourselves to blame. It is Obama's policies, and Obamacare, that have dragged down the economy and have changed everything.

Consider: Because of Obamacare mandates, employers must reduce hours for their employees to 30 hours/week (the new "full time"). They must also cut employment to less than 50 employees, or they are required to provide insurance, the premiums for which have skyrocketed.

None of this would have happened except for the so-called "Affordable Care Act," which is proving to be unafordable, not only for employers and individuals, but for the country as a whole. It's costs are vastly higher than we were told.

The tax increases that have come with Obamacare hurt everyone. There is simply nothing good that has come with this behemoth. It is an albatross around the neck of every business, and every individual, and it is strangling not only our economy, but our freedom as well, and if it is ever fully implemented, quality health care will be a thing of the past. That is a fact. Government run anything is never better than free market capitalism.

This is what you voted for. You can make it better by joining those of us who have been fighting against this awful legislation, and the Progressives who gave it to us, and who continue their quest to "fundamentally transform the United States of America."

Things can be what they used to be, but only if we return to the principles upon which this country was founded, and get over our flirtation with collectivism and socialist ideology which is Utopian, has never worked, and never will work.

The only thing I see that could give us a economic boom is energy from oil and gas to clean. More drilling for oil will create good paying jobs here at home and I would love where we did not buy any oil from the ME. But when it comes to clean energy I want the private sector leading the charge and they will. Obama has been living proof with the millions wasted that clean energy is not yet ready for prime time.

When clean energy becomes more affordable and there can be lots of profit for investors and companies it will take off. And of course the Keystone pipeline will be a boost also. I would rather have all energy driving the economy instead of the fake gvt spending and running up debt economy.

Never is a long time. The only certainty is that the present condition will change.

I read yesterday that the prediction for returning to pre-recession levels will be in about 2018.
