Why don't they advertise as 'hetero friendly' and why don't the guide books tell heteros where they can get women?

It really is a double standard here, if you think about it.
Umm. Because every place is hetero friendly. There may not be enough space in any given book to name all these places. Seems you are preoccupied with a very trivial thing here. [MOD CUT/off topic]

I am talking about regular, mass produced guide books and websites - ie: family friendly ones.

Now in one of the best known books there was a brief section about a 'male only, leather fetish, gay club'

so if that is not about sex then what is , and why is this book telling men where they can get sex with other men, but not with women?

If you ask me, it is yet another dose of modern day, liberal, ideological indoctrination. (which is of course, wrong)
Because I (as a man) can just walk up to any woman in any public place, and chances are she is going to be straight. Imagine how much more difficult that would be for a gay man or woman.

The better question is, why does this bother you so much? Most of us would just glance past this without so much as a second thought. It bothered you enough to post a thread about it.

To be fair, "hetero-friendly" is pretty much the default, so it doesn't make sense to make a big deal about it.

I have no idea why people are so obsessed with gays. Both liberals and conservatives. They only make up 4% of the population, so it is not the end of the world if someone assumes someone is straight nor is gay marriage going to be the end of civilization.

Let them have their marriage and their clubs and accept they are the minority. Both sides need to get over it.

Check many well known guide books and they will all tell you where the gay clubs, bars, and hotels are, but no info whatsoever on where heteros can go to get some action.

That's absurd really - like it's ok to have gay sex but not hetero. Weird.

At my local hotel there is a sign on the door stating 'No Sex travellers' (meaning you cannot take back female escorts), yet it is listed as 'gay friendly'.

Gay friendly essentially means 'good place for single guys to go to meet men'

So why one rule for the gays, but another for the heteros?

That is all back to front.
agreed, i found that extremely annoying when i first started doing long term world travel. the only place guidebooks like lonely planet will ever mention hetero sex is in the safety section (where they will say its dangerous and you should avoid at all cost) or they'll occasionally bash it in another section. eventually just ditched the guidebooks because they were completely useless. i'd recommend you do the same. the hotels and restaurants they recommend suck and really you can find all the basic info they have online for free anyway.

Travel guide books describes heterosexual sex as unsafe and dangerous and even have additional sections that just plain bash heterosexual sex?

that's what i just said, isn't it?

it's truly pathetic when one of the big guide book chains does a review of a major P4P hub. in the entertainment/nightlife sections they will actively avoid listing P4P oriented venues (except a few ladyboy/gay venues) and will recommend hotels that don't allow guests (like the OP's nearby hotel that doesn't allow sex travellers).

Yeah, and I still don't believe it. Travel guides really have a section where they bash heterosexual sex (something not really related to traveling and not to mention something that billions of humans do every day)?

btw, i think it was a mistake to post this thread in the political section. you have a bunch of uninformed ppl trying to twist this thread into a gay debate.

for whatever reason guidebooks are heavily influenced by second wave feminist ideas. i think this will become less of an issue in the future as these types and their disgusting anti-male ideology die off. but at the same time guide books are largely becoming irrelevant.

what are you talking about? the big travel guides will talk about the risks of getting STD's or getting robbed at the straight venues for sex (nightclubs, pick up bars, P4P bars, etc), i never said anything about them bashing the act of hetero sex. they simply try to steer single guys away from seeking companionship in their travels. is that too complicated for you to understand?
