It's amazing how these people are willing to just turn our country over to Mexico and we wonder why so many have invaded us without a shot.

Most of you should be ashamed to give up on the USA at a drop of one language. I'm embarrassed for you!

Are you saying you can't speak English in America anymore?

Why do you hate people learning other languages?

Whatever they're smoking we all need to stay far away from it.... It's one thing to want to know Spanish, it's another to be in an English speaking country and change to Mexico's liking.

Man, I bet Mexico is laughing at how easy it we will be to take us over and feed and clothe all their people so they don't have to.

Were as Americans Cahoonas gone!!!!!

UMMM, are you that out of it.....if the OP is correct he's the one saying Spanish will over ride English.

Nothing wrong with learning another language, it will be another if Americans can't get a job unless their bilingual.....you do see the problem don't you?

So you are worried about something that will never happen? I guess I see your point, I am worried about my unicorn running away.

Every American school system should offer at least some European (Spanish, French, German, Russian, Italian) and non-European languages (Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, Hindi, Korean) from elementary school on up. Americans are way behind the 8 ball when it comes to foreign language learning.

I totally agree, I wish foreign languages would of been taught in elementary school when I was growing up, and it is something I plan on making sure to have my child taught when I have a kid.

I know English, Spanish and Hebrew.

Hebrew, eh not too helpful (with the exception of Saturdays; okay I admit it, I'm more of a HH kind of person).

Spanish, indeed it is.

But why? We keep being told that Hispanics are assimilating into our society. So why would we need to learn Spanish when we would have our common national language of English to communicate in? ESL teachers would be the only exception. Most Hispanic-Americans that I know are bi-lingual. Hispanics aren't the only immigrants in this country. Should we also learn Chinese, Greek, Italian, German, etc. to accomodate all immigrants? Please..... Since when does the host country have to learn the language of immigrants? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
