I think the real problem goes before single parenthood and abortion. The problem is a lack of morals and that people do not bring God into their household and make their family a family of God.
We are just so damn enlightened and educated and we are just too good for church anymore or teaching our children real values.
So what will a cultural anthropologist of the next century say about the America that once was? I think they will attribute the decline/death of the nation/empire as the break down of the family.
We are just seeing the tip of the iceberg. This is a disaster that will manifest itself profoundly in 10 years and beyond.
I think you also have a point. Yes. There is a breakdown of family values and morals and as one poster said, it costs nothing to teach.
We can do better in that area but also we do need to teach kids about responsibility. Part of that may be birth control as well as taking responsibility for your actions.
It is hard parenting in a marriage at times - let alone being a single parent. This leaves a lot of time unsupervised for the kids. This is not to blame or call single mothers evil, but they do have a difficult job.

Hmmm. I'm just wondering how many of those god-fearing families have daughter's that got pregnant outside of marriage?
I know quite a few from our church. They certainly were active in the church so their Christian education wasn't lacking so . . . just not sure about this one.

It doesn't hurt. I don't believe it's the only thing we should be teaching them though.
Single parent. Daycare, taxpayer subsidized. Parent holds 2 jobs, child being raised by strangers and turned into a *******. Child then goes on welfare in perpetuity raising other welfare children ad infinitum.
I have never understood the whole philosophy that daycare represents someone else raising your kids for you. I not only don't understand..... I wholeheartedly disagree. A responsible parent knows how to manage the totality of the circumstances.
I love it when a liberal comes along and makes an "arsew*pe" out of himself.
It gives the rest of us another reason to laugh at and mock your failed ideology.
To me, its just about manners. I don't live in your little world of - liberal this and conservative that. If someone comes out with thinly veiled hate talk and it's an issue that matters to me, then I speak/act.
