I think the OP is a closet homosexual with a secret crush on Obama, as much as he's obsessed with him. OP, it's OK, most people are tolerant around here. You can just admit it. It will make you feel much better when you're honest with yourself.

Did you feel the same outrage when gas spiked under Bush? I was told back then that the President has zero to do with fuel prices. Does that still apply?

Yes I do. The most I ever paid for gas (where I live) was $4.04 the summer of 2008.

Gasoline has fluctuated at these price levels for three years. No real news here.

And since the control over the volume of "dollar bills" is under the authority of Congress, it's their fault.
Well, it is true that petroleum refiners need more dollars to pay for imported oil. But on the opposite side, they need less and less imported oil. But what can you do? They'll charge what people will pay. Only if there's a mass refusal to guy gas at the present price will it go down. Can American drivers actually refuse? Maybe not. Hard to change driving habits in the short run. In the long run, it could boost sales of more fuel-efficient cars.

Actually when the Fed was created, Congress lost the ability to control the number of dollars.

Of course high gas prices were Bush's fault back then. Probably still are.

The day Bush left office: Gas was $1.78.

Today, gas is $3.50.

Thank you, 0bama, you cretin!
Take a deep breath. You're spitting all over your keyboard again.
Gas always goes up this time of year. The summer blend costs them more money.

Now, hop back into your time machine and go fill it up in 2002. Or you could go back to 1992, when gas cost 90¢ a gallon. I wouldn't mind going back to 1972, when it cast 30¢ a gallon.

I wouldn't mind going back to pre-Obama times when gas was half the price.

The price for regular in Nebraska right now is $4.10, the all-time record high price. The plains states are suffering from refinery issues, I believe. It's gone up about 40¢ in the past week and 70¢ in the past month.

It's wonderful, since I'm planning a road trip next month.
