Yeah they weren't qualified...Yeah right, they just figured this out? Don't believe the partisan hype here. The upper brass is just trying to get rid of the ones who WOULD launch a retaliatory attack. They don't want us nuking anyone back if we get nuked.
That makes sense to me...seeing that no one did anything relevant regarding 9 11 - I don't see the attitude changing. Heaven forbid that someone nuke an American city - that might cause someone to send a nuke back...to the wrong place. I still can't get over whey administrators never held Saudi Arabia to task?
So put it this way. Some wack job supported by Saudi Arabia sets of a suit case nuke on American soil....and with no hesitation America nukes Iran...makes sense to me.....America has this tendency to suck up to their abusers like a beaten child. Now the question of Obama holding the nuclear trigger...that's kind of like wimp with a big club that is to heavy for him to lift and swing...I guess he will be like the kid in the school yard who bribes the bully.

From the article:
The move comes on the heels of a military review that found several failings in the officers’ unit, the 91st Missile Wing at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota, CBS reported. In March, inspectors gave the officers the grade of “D” on their mastery of Minuteman III missile launch operations.

Good job, AFIG group. We don't want semicompetent officers in those billets.

What information do you have to dispute the news report or do you just make up your own alternate set of facts grabbed from thin air?
And a "guess" is all it would be. It says right in your link that they weren't qualified.
Do you want people who aren't properly trained carrying these responsibilities?
Obama did it, hence bad. Four legs good, two legs bad.

We elected one to the White House, do you really want an answer to that?

Conservobots have done this very consistently over the past 5 years. And then spew phony outrage over their fantasies. Must be a mental condition of some kind. see: Glen Beck

He is certainly far more qualified than his immediate predecessor.

Seeing as that decision rests with national command authority, not the individual officers, I'd say that any officer who would let his own convictions influence a launch decision needs to be removed from his post, pronto. Luckily, the scenario you describe is just a little garden-variety right-wing hypothetical plucked out of thin air and based on nothing. It appears they simply weren't competent in carrying out their tasks.
How do you reach the conclusion that this is politically motivated?
The Air Force absolutely needs to be sure that the right people are in charge of this activity. There have been a number of issues with the DoD's management of its nuclear arsenal over the years going back to GWB's time. And when they find incompetence, they should fix it.
Do you people on the right see boogeyman every time you turn your head? The level of paranoia & suspicion is staggering.
