If yours does, let me know what it is. I may change companies.
Not to mention forecast and warn about a storm.

You're paying for it already, regardless of whether or not you want to.
No I'm not. My expenses for hurricanes are non-existent now. Compare $2500/yr homeowner's insurance to $350/yr. Or compare the expense of hurricane shutters to no hurricane shutters. Even a leftist arithmetic class should be able to cipher this.

I meant on a federal level. While costs are insignificant compared to the rest of the budget, they still exist.

Sorry, I don't want to pay for anyone else's desire to live in disaster prone areas.
I know you Pittsburghers like to brag about how you don't have many natural disasters there. However, natural disasters occur in many parts of the country. Take a look at "Tornado Alley", for example. Should that whole area be depopulated? And any place can have a freak incident. You guys had a tornado there a number of years back. While I think it's foolish to live in a floodplain, it's kind of hard to pick a place that is totally safe.

It shouldn't be my responsibility to pay for the poor choices other people make about where to live.

You may think you've made the greatest choice in the world. Being from Pittsburgh, I wouldn't disagree. But keep up with that attitude, and you may find the country's wallets closed when you guys have a major flood, blizzard, etc. These are disasters that I know happen there. Good luck!

Actually, blizzards are one of the most tame disasters you could have.

I don't care. I don't live in a flood prone area of Pittsburgh. And I made that decision. If others make bad decisions about where to live, they need to accept the consequences.

Blizzards happen rather frequently and aren't disasters except for state pols who want some bling from the Feds to steal.

Hurricanes are disasters, so are earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, long-running droughts.....

They're pretty easy to avoid.

Or allow the states that are prone to such disasters raise their taxes and deal with it themselves.

Florida doesn't collect 'taxes' for disaster assistance but there are 'fees' added to property insurance, auto insurance and electric bills.
