Don't worry folks Obama is on it............

"President Barack Obama and his senior advisers are closely monitoring the situation in Detroit after the city filed for bankruptcy on Thursday, the White House said. "While leaders on the ground in Michigan and the city's creditors understand that they must find a solution to Detroit's serious financial challenge, we remain committed to continuing our strong partnership with Detroit as it works to recover" said Amy Brundage, a White House spokeswoman. When you promise things that can never ever be paid for, you get unfunded liabilities.
Our government at all levels run big/huge unfunded liabilities.

The only way they can get it, is to tax more and more.

Sounds like it. Obama's been busy hiding all his scandals lately. He will get round to handing our money to these incompetent fools soon though.

"A Detroit city council member is asking President Obama to bail out the financially troubled city in return for residents’ overwhelmingly supporting his successful re-election bid. “There ought to be a quid pro quo," said Councilwoman JoAnn Watson, according to My Fox Detroit.

Nearly 75 percent of voters in Wayne County, which includes Detroit, voted for Obama on Nov. 6.

“There ought to be a quid pro quo."
- Councilwoman JoAnn Watson

"After the election of Jimmy Carter, the honorable Coleman Alexander Young, he went to Washington, D.C., and came home with some bacon," Watson said. "That's what you do," Watson said.

What an idiot view.

Try Chicago.

The only thing wrong in Detroit is pale and well off managed to get out of town without paying the price for being part of the town.

What's sad is that this meme played a significant role in his re-election.

Era of the low-information voter.

This however would require the authority of the State goverment which has no intention of rescuing those socioeconomic losers. ( Translates to N***** if discussed privately).
The city isn't entirely economically disadvantaged, nor is the entire city some oasis that you seem to believe it is. My proposal is fair, Detroit is reduced in size and chooses what areas are better fit to remain within city limits which may happen to be the better economically advantaged areas, while also taking on the debt of the former 131 sq mi; with that, the new cities, towns, and etc could take on new debt IF needed to improve their current situations while Detroit is in better shape to improve its situation as well BUT carries the burden of debt.

Simply put, Detroit cannot operate on it's existing footprint, it's just not possible; the tax base is reduced and it continues to operate the infrastructure of a 2,000,000 resident city without the proper tax-base to afford it. You can make that into a race issue all you would like, but as a black male I know that Detroit is financially in a crisis and things need to be fixed as soon as possible.

I almost say this same scenario applies to Baltimore, but the city is gentrifying now and the tax-base will rise eventually but nonethless, the city has financial problems itself that will blow up in its face if not addressed by 2020 I believe.
