ROFLMAO. Do these people ever except responsibility. Hmm, I wonder if that is why the left likes them, they think alike.
No, that's SOP for the left. Blame the right. They're never responsible for anything.
When a democrat is in power, they blame the republicans....when a republican is in power they blame the republicans....I'd like to know when the dems actually accomplish anything.

They can't accomplish anything, how can they, they don't know anything <snort> but you can bet they'll tell you they will get to the bottom of this, oh uh, shuffle it to the bottom they mean.
Until very recently Detroit has met its obligations.
Not really, they have went further and further into debt. Debt that there was no way it was ever going to get paid back. Now moreso than the employee's losing out I would prefer to see those who loaned them money lose out first.

And if it starts to miss meeting its obligations which do you think is most likely to be missed....one guaranteed in the Constitution or one which is not?
I'm not really concerned what is missed.

The Governor is clearly trying to get into the Bankruptcy court because he knows otherwise that he will in fact have to pay those retirees. And first. It might well end up that Michigan has to bail out Detroit because it otherwise gets into a situation where it has to pay most of Detroit's obligations to avoid bad fallout to the state and other municipalities. MI has to pay the retirees because of the Constitution, The big lenders because of the security invovled and the damage to credit ratings and police and fire and such to keep Detroit livable for the people who work and and live there. So that is what? 85% of what Detroit owes?
So what the graft and corruption here will lead to is a far lower standard of living for those who are expected to keep Detroit a valid place to live. But from what some are saying Orr has the ability to tear the old contracts up. I agree with what you have said though that this will most likely be a drawn out process to sort it all out.
But the automakers DIDN'T ship jobs to China. During their downfall Americans quit buying their cars because there were better choices. They finally realized loyalty is no reason to choose one car over another. At the same time foreign automakers decided it made economic sense to build cars in the US, but not in UAW states.
One of the colossal mistakes made was to rescue Chrysler the first time - Congress and Jimmy Carter. They should have let Chrysler go down. The automakers would have learned they cannot afford to make bad cars that cost too much.
We had tariffs to keep the USA self sufficient.
If the crap hit the fan today, we would be skrewed.
This whole apocalyptic view in politics now is really tiring. It's never too late to save anything. These are all man made problems and have man made solutions. Detroit has some serious downsizing, restructuring, and cutting to do and then eventually you will see the city rebound.

LOL! Like Packard, perhaps. Maybe they will put out new models in a few years. Or Pan Am? When are they adding LA-NYC back? Or Circuit City?
