The disappointing thing is, as I’ve already suggested, that almost nobody has been induced by this dramatic failure of prediction — or the similar error on interest rates — to change views, and possibly even concede that the Keynesians might have a point.

Krugman's failed prediction that the government's QE programs were going to kick start the economy is what we should be discussing.

Source?

QE is an attempt to get traction despite those zero short-term rates by buying long-term debt, hopefully narrowing the spread and thereby boosting the economy. I don’t think it’s had a large effect, but that’s the goal.

Source for what? That Krugman has supported the QE programs?

Isn't the Metro Detroit doing fine? I think people confuse the city of Detroit (~700,000 people) with the Metro Detroit (~5 million people). Metro Detroit is the 4th largest exporter in the country I believe.

You said and I quote...

"Krugman's failed prediction that the government's QE programs were going to kick start the economy is what we should be discussing."

So I ask you to source Krugman's prediction that the QE programs were going to kick start the economy.

I often read Krugman and do not remember him saying such a thing. I do a google scan and find nothing

So my thoughts are that you are another right wing liar. But I want to give you a chance to put up good info first. So are you a classic right wing liar?

It is always amazing to see the number of right wing facts that exist only in strawman proposed by the right.

That is the problem. The Detroit Metro works pretty well. But it needs a functional Detroit City to continue to work well. . So they are trying to fix Detroit City without rescuing alll those black guys. Hence the BK.

They move for same reason people always move; opportunity. The world does not stand still for anyone and no one is born with some right to more than another.

Not really. In much of this no one was changing jobs. They were getting away from something they considered...like too many black or poor people.

The metro area did not lose population...pretty much only the municipalities with black majorities.

There may be pockets of prosperity, but I doubt Metro Detroit as a whole is doing fine. The trend isn't in their favor.

NY saved itself. Detroit needs to do the same. If it can't, too bad, so sad. Next.
