You can be both physically powerful aswell as smart. Many mma fighters are this way.
Shane Carwin is a good example of an Engineer who fought in the UFC at the same time.
Rich Franklin is a math teacher who was middle weight champion.

Its smart to exercise as it keeps one in good health.

This thread is so annoying because everyone is debating something that was mis-stated. The original post that started this thread does not describe what the actual research study found.

Upper-body strength in men did NOT correlate with right-wing views, it correlated with self-interest.

It reported that men with higher upper-body strength were more likely to support a political view of economic redistribution that was in line with their self-interest.

Of the stronger men, the wealthy were less likely to support redistribution, and the poor were more likely to support redistribution. This is in line with their self-interest.

Of the weaker men, the wealthy were more likely to support redistribution, and the poor less likely to support redistribution. Both views are against their self-interest.

So, in terms of the right-wing, left-wing thing:

Right-wing political views on economic redistribution were held by the wealthy strong, and the poor weaker men.
Left-wing political views were held by the wealthy weaker, and poor stronger men.

Unless you are employed by the government (i.e. for the military) I see no need for weight lifting.

Besides, that ideology lends itself to being gobbled up by people that are afraid of everything. You know it's bad when a grown man is afraid of gay people getting married.

Physically strong my ass. LOL..more like mentally weak.
Hell yeah! Truth!

It's hard to imagine a skinny pantsed, emo type being ruggedly independant.

Those types even walk funny.
