The reason the military has codes and regulations is so everyone is on the same page.
For one person to change the rules on the fly to suit their particular fancy at the moment destroys order.
Of course a lifelong civilian wouldn't be expected to understand that, and for that reason individuals who were busy working as community agitators at an age when they could have been serving their country make p*ss poor military commanders later in life.
Females are allowed to carry umbrellas if they are in dress uniform.
To use of umbrellas are covered in MPO P1020.34, an official regulation. It is binding and punishable for the service member. It is more than etiquette.
Male and female Marines do have slightly different protocols and regulations. But, just to clarify, the topic was about the Marines in the photo, not about Woman Marines.
Wasn't Obama appearing with another head of state? I saw a flag that resembled the Turkish flag behind the guy. It's common that the press asks questions after meetings like this.
Since when has it been correct protocol to allow another head of state to become wet when appearing for questions in the Rose Garden?

I mean yesterday I was going to mow the lawn. Good day for it. The sun was shining, looked great. Got my mower out, put a new clamp on it, sharpened the hedge clippers, then decided to eat lunch. Afterward, I went outside to mow and it was raining. Who couldda known?
