Brady: Is this still America? Is this government so drunk on power that it would use it's full might to intimidate and harass an average American. Americans who are targeted by the IRS for wanting a voice and to be heard.

Brady: Who is responsible for targeting of conservative organizations?

Miller: I can not speak to given case.

Brady: Who is responsible for targeting conservative organizations?

Miller: Again, I am going to take exception to the concept of targeting because it's a loaded term.

Miller: I don't have no names, targeting is wrong.

Mr Rangel: Who were the people involved, were they appointed by Bush or Obama?

My comment: Who the hell cares Mr Rangel, conservatives were targeted. This is the IRS and they are supposed to be non-partisan, this is damn scary and effects everyone. Regardless who was appointed by whom, the hammer must come down.

Liberals should not assume that this is the “other guy’s” fight.

The targeting of conservatives under a Democratic administration could switch to a targeting of liberals under a subsequent Republican administration.

And you make jokes? This is NOT a joke. No matter who is in office, the IRS targeting Democrats, Republicans, Liberals, Conservatives, this is serious and if you have common sense this would put a chill up your spine.

Can't agree more. Just because it is conservatives this time, doesn't mean it won't be liberals next time. Not right no matter what side it happens to.

Is this the way of Chicago politics? It seems that this type of political intimidation is the norm with this administration,....and the tactics being used should cause a chill among ANY American regardless of political affiliation.

Those tea party groups were applying to be 501(c)3 (literary, educational, scientific or charitable organizations) which are blocked from even holding a rally that shows support for one candidate over another, or a 501(c)4, which is supposed to be a civic league or social welfare organization (like a volunteer fire department or the Chamber of Commerce) created to benefit the entire community, and which are only allowed to do campaign work if it's less than 50% of their activities. The main focus of a (c)4 is supposed to be recreational, educational or charitable. How tea party groups fit into either of those categories is beyond me.

We need to crack down on these nonprofits abusing their tax exempt status to do campaign work. I'm not going to go digging for a link, but it finally came out on NBC this morning that tea party groups were ONE THIRD of the groups that had their applications flagged for potentially inappropriate activities. Most applications for 501(c)4s were flagged. Some of you may come to really regret jumping up and down with glee over this, because the last time I looked, American Crossroads and American Crossroads GPS were both 501(c)4 organizations, and I'd love to see an accounting of how over 50% of their activities benefited the entire community and not just a specific group by being charitable, educational or recreational. They're only allowed to spend 49% of their income and activities in campaign work, and yet that's all they seem to do.

I think it's time that the IRS cleans house with all of these nonprofits committing abuse and fraud.

At this point, such paranoia is justified. We should take the position that the IRS has to prove it is not a partisan agency rather than taking that for granted. Until they can prove it, they will be suspect in the eyes of anyone who disagrees with the president.

This is what Progressives want. They support and vote for these people who act like this.
