You libs really believe this stuff, don't you? Spin this all you want, Benghazi is about Obama's dereliction of duty and the fraud perpetrated on the American public afterwards.

Obama has dirty hands, and you folks know it.

Don't tell us what we know NOBODY knows exactly what happened in Benghazi, at least no one currently flapping their gums on Capitol Hill, or Fox.

You wanna get all Glen Becky for a second? My gut tells me, Ambassador Stevens was in Benghazi that night, at a lightly guarded compound, for reasons that can't be disclosed. Original cover story was, he was there to attend an opening of a new cultural center (). More likely, the CIA was up to something, and they needed him for a go between.

Stevens was a good man, but he fancied himself a sort of "Lawrence of Arabia" of Libya. He had just finished entertaining a Libyan official at the compound, prior to the attack. There had been demonstrations against the video at US embassies the previous couple days across the Muslim world, including in Cairo and Tripoli. Why was Stevens (or his security team) not on some kind of elevated alert level, given the circumstances? Because, their op required a low profile.

Who was the highest-ranking official who knew what was going on? Brennan for sure, and probably Hillary.

I doubt it was the president. this was a State Dept/CIA op, that went seriously wrong. This is one of those times, when a president gets a call in the middle of the night, and says, "You guys did WHAT???"

I also suspect the GOP "leadership" (via the House Intel Committee) knows EXACTLY what happened at Benghazi. They also know the real story can't be spelled out, due to national security concerns.

But the GOP ALSO knows, that means the Obama Admin can't disclose the facts either. So, acting in bad faith, as usual, the GOP is taking full political advantage, using a bungled intel op to beat the administration over the head.

That is my take... Tragic miscalculation? Yes. Scandal? MAYBE, depending on what we were up to.

Impeachable offense

You'd probably get your answer if Issa would allow Ambassador Pickering and Adm. Mullen testify in public as they have requested but Issa refused their request and has demanded that they testify behind close doors.

The rightwing nuts overplayed their Benghazi hand a LONG time ago. This is typical Republican hysteria. Instead of focusing on jobs and other issues facing Americans they'd rather engage in throwing red meat to "the base". Keep in mind these are the same lunatics who keep re-electing dimwits like Bachman and who made a bimbo like sarah palin and a lard ass like Limbaugh millionaires.

I second that. Best description that I've seen of what mostly likely went down, and also the most plausible. Well done.

Karl lied too, he told us that "ABC news reviewed the emails" and they clearly did not, they had someone on the inside copy them down and read them back to Karl.

Some good points. What was the purpose and context of the meeting with the Turkish diplomat, who Stevens escorted from the Consulate at about 8:30 PM?

It is probable that the Republicans in the Congress do know what was going on at the Consulate, and whatever it was, the 0bama admin does not want to disclose it.

There is the underlying issue, that our state Department ignored all visible signs the increasing dangers in Libya, ignored all past terror attacks, and ignored the pleas from Stevens for more security.

The cover up with the whole video excuse, the talking points rewrites, are the ugly side of the politics in Washington. Those things disgust me, but they are minor compared to how we knowingly put people in danger and just left them to die. The later has always been the scandal to me, not the talking points about the video. I'm sure the president and his people would love to keep talking about the video and talking points, because the darker secrets, and gross negligence are much worse.

Are you kidding? Forget Issa. Forget the GOP. Quit pretending this is about Republicans. How about some honesty from the Obama administration?

They are playing you folks and you suck up their lying bs and act like it's all about those meanies in the GOP.

Have some pride libs. He hides behind you folks just the way he hid behind Candy Crowley at the debates and Susan Rice with the video.
