but the common view is that somehow the money just popped up in my bank account and i was lucky oh so lucky.
the 30 years of toil striving and scrimping and suffering never happened. i was just lucky and the money just popped up in my pocket like magic. the other part that they say about me is that i was born rich. that i was never poor.

Welcome to the shared information age. Write a great 120 minute movie script. Shop it around in New York - Paris - London - Hollywood...and have it read by a hundred people. You will find people these days who have the power to make things happen are glad to suck up the ideas..but no one wants to pay for that idea. Out of one richly written script you will see 20 sprout from 20 good ideas contained in the manuscript. Intellectual property is almost non existent these days. There are no property rights...You do not have the right to BUILT IT...But a thousand have the right to cannibalize it...and feed off of it. This is capitalism that has peaked and morphed into socialism.
What Obama was saying was - don't expect to be successful through your hard work and ability...just be happy that 100 stupid people utilize YOUR brain and that it all goes to THE BETTER GOOD.. Eventually if the individual is no longer rewarded or recognized that the parasites will no longer have anything to feed on.
And because Alphamale appears to not like the messenger, you immediately assumed that it was because the messenger was black. As I said, the racism spews forth from Obama supporters.
Narcissism? Why is this word considered negative...Narcissism has been my own personal religion all of my life. There is nothing wrong with narcissism.

Try being wrong and a narcissist. There is definitely something wrong with that, as all of us have to put up with you and your militant wrongness.

Huck, you sound like me. The harder I work, the luckier I get.
Is there any greater lie in American culture and politics than the "self-made" man or woman? Think about the utter self-absorption, myopia and narcissism of this sentiment. It's bandied about frequently in politics. A few years ago, 60 Minutes was doing a story on America's richest people. They had one CEO on who became quite emotional in describing all the people who helped him get to where he is and how offensive it is to believe that one gets to the top of the economic ladder by oneself. Parents, teachers, bosses, colleagues, employees, all the people with whom it would be impossible to get rich without their help.
It's somewhat ironic, in that the same folks who swallow this garbage hook, line and sinker are the same ones who get worked up when an athlete in a team sport speaks as if the successes of the team have been due solely to their own personal efforts and neglects all the others who contributed.
No, friend, you didn't "build that" yourself. Between the countless people who helped you and the governmental and societal contributions, you are one part of the larger puzzle. Get over your self-obsessions and narcissism.
Spoken like a true socialist who tries to cherry pick examples to make their point. For every example you might be able to come up with, there are thousands of others that counter your perspective on this issue.
Why only look to the richest people in industry? If we know anything, many of these companies did start with little or nothing and grew over time and generations. Will the future generations of Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Richard Branson, Ron Rice, etc., not be able to claim "I built it"?
Unless you are one of these people who believe personal wealth should not be able to be passed on from generation to generation, you do not have a foundation to stand on.
Other than themselves and other Government employees?
