Good question.

2014 could become a referendum on not just impeachment, but all the other faux outrage that has been spun up in the past couple of months. Voters in both parties are very sick of the back and forth cheap talk while the stalemate continues.

But I think it will probably all peter out long before 2014 rolls around. If some event does develop legs, impeachment may come up again, but it is a very sharp double-edged sword that can kill the wielder as easily as the President. Given Obama's strong popularity, it's edge more probably will cut those who would make a serious attempt.

I think another catastrophe of nature might become more important in 2014 than all this junk. 2 major hurricanes threw the 2008 and 2012 elections into a loop, and big tornadoes can do the same in state elections. 2012 was the hottest year on record, and big climate swings have been predicted for 20 years. A flood, hurricane, drought, tornadoes, big fires, or anything big can send an election spinning into very unpredictable territory.

Even so, most states will vote their incumbents in for another term. I'm liberal, and I don't believe the House will become a Democratic majority in 2014, but I think the Republican majority will narrow.

God, it must be just SO hard to accept that a black man is your president and will be for the next 3.5 years, and that no amount of screaming and holding your breath will change that.

Advocating impeachment IS extreme!

"High crimes and misdemeanors" is the most extreme political offense of all, and impeachment- forced removal from office- is the most severe political punishment of all. That's why it has only been attempted twice Presidentially in over 200 years, and why both attempts failed.

In comparison, a Congressional reprimand or a censuring is trifling. And both of these have ended many political careers and have cost both parties their majorities.

Only an extremist would be blind to those facts.

As did i. Lies, Deceit, Blame and Corruption, will take you down every time, piece by piece.

The lies have a way of catching up, as does playing the blame game. This administration feels that they were above corruption and lies, Think Not.

The only thing that can save face to this corrput thug bullish administration, is telling the truth, it will set them free.

And you usually plead the fifth, when! what, you want to hide something you wish not to share, gees wonder what this can be.

The House investigation proceedings were done to determine if Clinton had done an impeachable offense. This was a pre-impeachment investigation. In a full House investigation, the Speaker is the leader of the investigation.

The investigation ceased before reaching any resolution pro or con.
The reason for the sudden halt was Newt Gingrich's sudden resignation from Congress, followed by his successor's resignation and his successor's successor's resignation, all done in short order. 3 in a row quit suddenly.

That's how Dennis Hastert ended up being speaker. He was the last in the Republican line, and the only one who had never cheated on his wife. if Hastert had declined the Speakership, the investigation would have stopped until the House Republicans voted in a new Speaker.

So, one way or another, impeachment would never have been voted for. Hastert stopped it as a way of limiting the massive damage to the party that had been done.

But you're right. Obama will never be impeached unless the Republican party wants another go-round of mass political suicide.
Sorry, you are wrong again.
Impeachment of Bill Clinton - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The pertinent line is:
Upon the passage of H. Res. 611, Clinton was impeached on December 19, 1998, by the House of Representatives on grounds of perjury to a grand jury (by a 228–206 vote)[15] and obstruction of justice (by a 221–212 vote).[

Articles of impeachment were passed in the house, just as a grand jury finds probable cause for a trial against someone for a crime.
He was not removed from office which would have taken an act of the senate, which requires super majority of 2/3rds or 60 votes.

Andrew Johnson was also impeached, but not removed from office.

Keep trying.

The only scary thing about Obama being impeached is the fool that will take his place. That is scary.

They want Obama impeached on what ?
Obama has not been connected to any of the scandals and has not been found guilty of any crimes.

The Repubs have been telling you Dems for years that Obama has no clue.
See..they have been proven true.
Obama doesn't know anything and has admitted it himself. He doesn't know anything until he reads about it in the paper.

The Repubs were right. Obama is clueless and it's that clueless that will save him from any illegalities that went on in his administration. His people don't talk to him and he asks no questions.

I don't see the point of impeaching Oblama to replace him with Biden.

It's the Obama voters that are the boil on the asz of America, and they aren't going anywhere.
