Women have been part of the US military for decades, usually in non-combat jobs. In recent times they are also in combat positions. The eligible draft age is from 18 to 26. With all the grandiose plans for expanding American wars, a draft may be necessary, soon.
Do you think that women should be included in the draft.
Well, yes. If a draft became necessary, women should be included. They are already in combat roles now, so , in reality, it's a moot point. The biggest problem I see with any draft, is the quality of the troops we would be fielding. Not everyone, male or female, is cut out for a combat assignment, and that fact does not get any consideration. To the military, a body is a body, when they look at the infantry. I can't see the draft being reinstated for the current conflicts we are in, unless, they REALLY heat up, with another foriegn power sending in troops to support the Taliban, Al Queda etc. That would mean big doo doo. N Korea is another thing to look at. If things were to blow up there, with us already being stretched pretty thin in the Middle East. We would be very dependent on our tech advantage, and thats only going to get us so far.
Women can't be held to the same physical standard because they are built different than men. They were actually talking about this after the female African runner was accused of being a man. They said she had a clear advantage because she may be more man than woman so she should not be able to compete against women that are all woman.
If they can't do the same job as me because of physical limitations, then they don't need to be in the same military as me.
Then why don't they have to meet the same physical requirements as me for the job?
I'm all for women in the military, doing combat jobs, but only if they can meet the same physical requirements as a man.
Women can compete and complete many of the same jobs men do without having to have the same physical requirements. One example is as a fighter pilot - women do an outstanding role here. Same with flying choppers including the Apache. The Medical Field is another example as is driving big trucks. And there are more -
So, they don't have to have the same physical requirements to "do the job"

A soldiers primary job is combat, in some form or fashion.
If I have to do 40 push ups in 2 minutes, then they should have to do them to. I don't think its asking to much, I knew lots of girls when I was in that could do that and then some. They weren't butchy either, they were girls.
My point is, equal rights demands equal treatment. If you want the same rights as me, and the same job, then you should have to meet the same physical requirement. Same applies for a man, if there is a job that women are doing more than men, then the man should have to meet the same requirements as the woman.

IMO, it is the results that count. Even if they cannot do the same number of pushups or pullups you can do - can they accomplish the same mission men are called on to do? Can they watch your six just as well? Can they pull 6 / 7 G's the same as you?
If the answer is YES - then frankly, the number of push ups is, IMO, meaningless.
And that goes for the single children in the families, too, male or female. They can be put into non-combat MOS's, if they choose to. Manditory 8 yrs either active or reserve will do all of them some good, and that goes for any and all religions as well.
