If the border patrol is anything like they portray on the TV show Border Wars, then they really could use some improvements. For instance, I noticed they don't seem to check every car heading over the border, only random ones. Can you imagine how much drug, arms, and human trafficking and smuggling goes on in every other car?

If you have a flooding issue on River A do you invest the same effort and resources on River B which never has a flooding issue? I would hope not, what a waste of resources that would be.
Should we invest equally on our northern border simply to avoid being accused of being racist? What a waste of resources that would be.
Some would love to make this a race issue, that makes it easy to deflect from the real issue which is we can not afford to grant the same status to impoverished people as we might to those who are the financial equivalent to US citizens. The race card is the joker in the deck.
Another excellet post today, tinman. Thanks.

We are talking about the need for border patrol. They are all corrupt. But not only that being the primary reason, the secondary reason is that Mexicans coming to the US pose no threat. They are here to work hard just like everyone else that comes here to america "legally" but later figures out a scheme to "extend their stay". It happens everyday, and yes, it happened with the many that arrived on Ellis island. Legal or not, they were not hated upon because they were white as you.

Mexicans however are mostly natives and dark skinned folk. So the reason the border is being secured is clearly racism. Otherwise, if this had nothing to do with race, then they would of made a huge border across Canada too. But in reality, maybe they havent started building in Canada due to its dangers....the stalking bears & huge moose, sure.. but fair is fair.

No, all the BP are not corrupt. Some perhaps but certainly not all by any stretch of the imagination.
Yes, Mexicans or any other illegals pose a threat to our society economically. They steal jobs, benefits, taxes and resources from Americans. Not to mention that terrorists and criminals are getting through our porous southern border.

Knock off the race, skin color and racism BS! This is about our laws not any of those. I don't care what the setiments of yesterday were towards "legal" immigrants. Those sentiments are not the same today. The subject is illegal immigration. What part of that aren't you getting?

Did you totally ignore my post where I said that Mexicans enjoy the largest quotas to come here legally? So where is the racism in that? It's already been explained to you why the focus isn't on our northern border also. There isn't much illegal immigration that comes through our northern border. Are you just purposely being obtuse?

I'm sure there are a number of smaller roads, too.
