Yep becauase guess what? Someone in their class or a grade above them already knows about sex and you don't want your children poisoned with mis-information. Who knows what kids see online, on t.v, or hear on the radio these days? Unless you home school and keep them with you 24/7 you have no idea or control over what your kids are exposed to.

Those are the people that have their heads in the sand. I'm a conservative but not stupid.

If people don't want to teach their kids about the tough subjects, they will learn their lessons the hard way.

Regardless, I still don't feel it's anyone else's responsibility to teach kids about personal issues. I think every kid asks where babies come from and how they get there. It depends on the age of the child what the response will be and how much detail should be given. Some kids mature faster and parents know what their kids can handle or should know anyway.

No one is forcing YOUR children to visit the HHS website, are they?

But pretending that your 10-year-old daughter isn't maturing is not going to stop her from maturing, from developing sexually, from being curious about sex. You'd prefer she got misinformation from the playground?

You're welcome.

I see nothing immoral about any of this, although I'm a moderate liberal with libertarian tendencies, not on "the left."

People on the left want to nationalize banks and railroads and industry, etc. I don't.

No. Not the point. Those who have kids need to step up and teach their own kids. This is not a place for the government to interfere.

Remember, keep the government out of bedrooms, off of bodies, etc.

This is another example of the government being where they shouldn't be.

Kids aren't inherently special until they actually prove they are, btw, mine included. Once again, parents need to step up and the government needs to quit wasting money where they shouldn't be.

10 year olds are interested in sex? This sounds way, way too young.

On the playground they should be running around not talking at about sex at that age.

Maybe times have changed, but at that age and up until 14 I was just interested in my sports and activities. The sooner kids find out about sex, the sooner it will be acceptable to them, and the sooner they will do it. The sooner they do, the worse off they will be in the long run. It isn't something that should happen early on in life. That's my opinion.

Yeah you can say they need to, but unless you are forcing them, they have the choice to not do anything.

And that's where GOVERNMENT needs to step in, because if the parents aren't going to, who is?

Their friends? Yeah, kids teaching kids about sex. where do you think we get the stupid ideas that asprin between a womans' legs will prevent pregnancy?

sorry, we don't live in your PERFECT UTOPIA.

And you obviously ignore that certain religions DO not ALLOW parents TO TEACH Sex education and does NOT ALLOW them to use Birth Control.

and the children of these enlightened parents are at the forefront of teenage pregnancy.

I was 14 in 1989 and had been aware of and talking about sex for many years at that point.

When I was 10, my favorite tv show was Dynasty. Before I turned 11 I'd read Kane and Abel cover to cover. I don't know that times have changed, I think we just grew up in different social and geographical environments.

Not utopia. Just reality.

This is a waste of money. I'm tired of paying for crap for people that can and should do for themselves. This is more nannying.

Your personal attacks mean nothing. People shouldn't rely on government to raise their families. That's the bottom line. Taxpayers should not have to pay for something that costs nothing to teach by the lowest educated parents.
