Ask any young person what the first thing that comes to mind when they think of the Republican Party and they will either bring up Bush and the recession he caused, or their very unpopular (bigoted) social policies. Many people won't even consider voting for a Republican, even a moderate one, because of their association with the radicals and the fact they must pander to win a national election.

One can argue about the Obama economy and why it has taken so long to show signs of life, but one cannot deny that in 2012, prior to the election, the economy was still in pretty dire shape despite four years of hope and change. Obama's most loyal supporters, young voters, shrugged it off and turned out in greater numbers for him this year than in 2008. If there was ever an election where Republicans had a chance it was 2012, but instead they suffered an even larger defeat in numbers than in 2008. People were willing to keep a mediocre President rather than elect somebody who wants so much control over what citizens do in the privacy of their own bedrooms. They may not like the Democrats' policies, but they are TERRIFIED of the GOP's social agenda.

2012 showed one thing - the Republican message and brand doesn't sell anymore especially to people under 30. In fact, I am beginning to wonder if the Republican brand is too tarnished to ever make a comeback. The biggest elephant in the room for the GOP, their Neanderthalic social views, aren't going away and any fiscally conservative/socially liberal Republican who tries to run either will not make it through the primary or will have to completely give up all credibility by pandering to the Christian Right. It just cannot be done. The Republican Party has got itself into a place where they are simply un-electable in a national election.

That brings me to the question. What can be done about it? What should be done?

There have been so many tries at a third party and none of them have been successful. Unless something changes, George W. Bush could very well be the last President who isn't a Democrat we will ever see.

Ask any young person to name the tenth president, or the 39th? Most could better answer what time american idol comes on.

No real difference agreed, but how about a 3rd Party coming to the fore?

I don't think so. There's a lot of good republicans left. We just need to vote better.

Demographics will put the Repustinkers out of the power loop for good. 8-10 years and Texas goes blue...........then Miss Pee-lousy and the other Stinkocrats will have ultimate power.....wow, that is going to be fun.

He still won and remains the President, despite your Limbaugh rants.
