Since December 31, 2012 - an online government petition has been created to officially converting to the Metric system instead of the Imperial system like rest of the world. It has close to 50,000 signatures already and is waiting for response from the government officials.

Last attempt doing so was in 1970s. Do you think there is a chance the U.S. will convert to the Metric system? Canada and Australia did in the 70s.

you started this thread and are shocked that there are no responses in 4 minutes?

Actually I support converting to the metric system in this country because it is a system that makes sense.

The metric system is too confusing, even though it's based on multiples of 10.

Not until road signs are in metric units and weather forecast uses Celsius the U.S. is not offically metric.

In case you haven't noticed the metric system is already sneaking in.

How do you buy your bottles of soda ?
Your weights on pkgs all show metric.
Kids in school do more metric based math problems.

Incrementalism.

NO to the petition.

We'll be better off if it happens as it is currently.

Yes, it's so much easier to remember that there are 12 inches in a foot, 5280 feet in a mile, 4 quarts in a gallon, 16 ounces in a pound, etc.
