Single winner claims huge Powerball pot - CNN.com

So what do you think, will her family go nuts over this money since it will be obviously passed on to someone soon?

What would you do? Give it to your family or charity in your will?

Remember, you're 84.

EDIT: This is also the "best" person to get the lottery, in the government's mind, as Estate Taxes will be recovering more of it soon too, unless it is all donated beforehand.

She just needs to get it in a legal contract what she wants to happen to the money. She's 84 and just got a lot of money. Let her buy a bunch of stuff and have some fun.

I second that. I wonder if she wants to adopt me?

Completely agree here. I'm more interested in just the world around this (poor) woman, especially with her name being released.

Many families get torn apart long term if their is a lottery winner. Now you have an 84 year old Grandma or Great Grandma with who knows how many family members.

That is why I was more asking what everyone would do in this case.

Of course I'd give probably most of it to family, but I'd also give a substantial amount to probably Humane Society & Nature Conservancy.

I would leave every penny to animal rescue.

Well, maybe not every penny, but close. I suppose I would make sure my IMMEDIATE family got a mil each.

Im dumbfounded that she is claiming it on her own, and not as a Family LP, etc.

Hopefully, a financial planner gets hold of her before its too late. Or she just really likes the government and wants to donate it back for them to spend. Stupid, IMO, but hey, its her money to waste.
