Such a society would manufacture "criminals" en masse, entirely against their own wills.

We are approaching that status now in America.
That makes no sense at all.

Let's think outside the box. Handcuffs are not just for those who are being arrested, they are also for prisoners. A plastic key may not show up or trip the alarm when a visitor goes through the checkpoint on their way to the visiting room to see their beloved inmate.

Put that key in the mouth, under the tongue, key is swapped with a kiss.

Inmate now has the key. Inmate may be on a transport for a "medical" issue. (Some are very good at faking it...OR, they will intentionally hurt themselves seriously enough to have to be transported to a hospital outside of the prison.)

Key is small enough to hide in a zipper. Not all searches are thorough. It can be easily missed. Paperclips and bobby pins are actually easier to find than some small piece of plastic like this.

Now the inmate in handcuffs, has the key and is OFF prison grounds.

All kinds of problems can happen.

This might be useful for kinky situations, but actually getting out of real handcuffs would be useless.
You think someone is going be handcuffed to a pole alone somewhere? Can't see it being a real big issue.

Nope, not all. No real big issue...

Highland Park mayor, police chief send letter to residents about fatal officer-involved shooting | Park Cities Blog

"The mayor and police chief declined to release specific details on the case, including how Hartman apparently escaped from his handcuffs, retrieved a gun he hid on himself and fired it. The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation of the incident."

There are no details in that case. Obviously, there are exceptions and isolated cases.

I just don't see wide-spread issues with this. Are you saying that is the case?

There are much bigger issues going on that aren't addressed, I see this as a minor issue.

How many reported cases actually happen w/ someone getting out of handcuffs? Anybody track this or research it?

Some people would be more of a threat to them than others, by appearance. If you looked at me, you would see I'm no threat at 120 lbs. Besides, there are at least 2 of them against me. They should be able to use discretion, depending upon the circumstance. They are cowards.

ouch. If they see you are free and take off, they'll just shoot you. Not a good plan.

Post it, I don't believe that.

As usual their version stinks of coverup.
