The gun-rights-hating True Believers like Quinn keep twisting and turning to eke out every last bit of their chance to take guns away from law-abiding people.

Cockroaches are never truly gone, until you've gotten rid of every last one of them.

Illinois Gov Gets Gun-Bill Signing Extension

Illinois Governor Patt Quinn Gets Gun-Bill Signing Extension

Thursday, June 6, 2013

(GunNews.com) — The Illinois legislature agreed last week to allow people to carry concealed guns, a measure, which if signed into law, would make the state the last in the country to allow the public possession of concealed firearms. The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday gave the state of Illinois an extra 30 days to lift its ban on concealed weapons.

The court acted on Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s request to allow Gov. Pat Quinn more time to review legislation passed last week. But the court said it would not issue another extension of its mandate past the new deadline of July 9.

The compromise plan by the House and Senate followed a federal appeals ruling that stated Illinois’ concealed carry ban is unconstitutional and that the state must change it by June 9.

Gov. Pat Quinn, a Democrat, has not said whether he will sign the legislation into law. However, the bill has enough votes in the legislature to override a gubernatorial veto. The appeals court ruling stated the ban violated the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment right to bear arms.

It is wholly constitutional that the Govenor not sign the legislation and it be remanded to the legislature for a veto vote.

A Federal Appeals ruling is not the final judicial say on the matter.

Unless Illinois appeals the ruling, how is it not the final say?

I suppose Illinois could defy the court and its extended deadline. But I assume there are consequences when a federal judge's ruling is not followed.

Who the hell are you to call another person a cockroach? Is this what you think of people whose opinions differ from yours?

Not to mention civil suits from inconvenienced CCW carriers if they lose their jobs or otherwise have their lives affected from an unwarranted arrest.

Nothing really meaningful to reply with, eh? Don't worry, Chicago shares your frustration at the inevitable conclusion that concealed carry will be a reality even in their precious "gun-free" city.

Well, let's start with the fringe element of the NRA which hates Americans. I'd be for that.

You totally or conveniently overlooked my initial statment and conflated my two statements into one related action.

Quinn should not appeal, and here's why.
Quote:
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan wisely decided to defer any decision on an appeal to see if the Illinois legislature would take the necessary corrective action. It has now done so. If Quinn throws a wrench into that responsible action and tries to force an appeal, he will be playing into the hands of the National Rifle Association and other gun control opponents. Those opponents are the only ones who want to see the statute taken to the Supreme Court.

Quinn is an imbecile who may be Governor in name/title but the power in the state rests with the Speaker of the House, Mike Madigan ... the Attorney General's father.
