Deep Green Resistance believes not only are animals equals but all life is. Deep Green Resistance - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

While I don't think humans are superior to other animals I think giving human rights to other animals is very problematic. I do support laws against animal cruelty as long as they aren't used as a way to increase police presence and the prison population, and I could agree with giving primates and cetaceans some kind of "Non-Human Person" status. But the idea of making all animals let alone all species legally equal would lead to nothing but moral relativism.

Like freedom of speech...How does that work?

Would barking and meowing be constitutionaly protected? would I be able to call on my neighbors dog...uh, Dog-like-person?

What's the difference between a pet and a wild animal? To me hunting for sport is just as bad as killing someone's pet aside from the grief you are inflicting upon the owner.

All you have to do is tune into a episode of "Swamp People" and see what 40 +/- years of protecting gators did.

They offer each hunter nearly 300 tags and they still don't put a dent in them.

Of course this is AFTER they chomped your foot and hand to bloody hell and ate someones dog or child. Come home from work and find one in your swimming pool.

The answer: NO

I don't think humans are "special" or anything aside from having very developed brains + opposable thumbs but I also think we have a relationship with other humans that is different from our relationship with other species.

All life kills other life to survive. This is true of ALL life, from bacteria and viruses to humans.
Even a vegetarian kills other life to survive. Does a carrot scream when it ripped from the ground? Just because you can't hear it, doesn't mean the scream isn't there!
Pets?? Sorry, but my dog does NOT have the same rights as I do. It is NOT equal to me, or my wife, or my children, or any other human being.

A Golden Retriever for president might actually be a good idea after what humans have voted for.
