How does North Colorado sound? From Fox News - "Officials in eight northern Colorado counties united in opposition to the state's new gun control laws and oil and gas regulations are reportedly considering forming a 51st U.S. state called North Colorado."

Colorado counties mull forming new state, North Colorado | Fox News

I hope so, I'm tired of watching the Obama administration flounder around, this will make a nice diversion.

This would be a bad idea because if it succeeds it will only encourage other states to do the same.
North Louisiana/South or Southeast Louisiana
State of Atlanta or North Georgia as opposed to south Georgia

Too many states have a divide within the state, and this could only spur on creation of 5-10 more states if it succeeds.

It will never happen, if we ever get a 51st state, it will be Puerto Rico.

Dumb idea. Nearly every state has some sort of political divide. That doesn't mean we should split them up.

Kind of a one trick pony joke you guys keep running with. Just about every candidate during their campaign stumble and say something like that. It isn't even funny, Obama accidentally said 57 states, who cares.

Why is people determining their own government a bad thing?

Cities and townships secede all the time. What's so different about a state?
