Reporters may have left knee pads at home.

Quote:
WASHINGTON — President Obama held an off-the-record meeting with select reporters from some of the nation’s largest print and online outlets Monday, in the White House’s latest effort to placate an increasingly restive press corps.

White House officials regularly meet with reporters for so-called “background briefing sessions,” where the attendees cannot be mentioned by name nor quoted directly, but Monday’s meeting was different. Initially billed as a conversation with White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, the president made a surprise appearance — a very unusual move — and the White House placed the proceedings off the record beforehand. The meeting came amid a series of scandals crashing over the White House that has placed the administration on defense in a way it hasn’t been until now.

The attendees and discussion were not reported, and BuzzFeed said reporters were "loathe to discuss" the meeting given its off-the-record nature.

Did Webster change the definition of 'transparency'?

Obama Meets With Reporters In Off-Record Session

He tried to have an off-the-record meeting before, and many refused to attend. So he has an aid call a meeting and then makes an unannounced appearance.

Journalists from news outlets, including The Huffington Post, showed up expecting an off-the-record session with White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough, BuzzFeed reported. Obama's attendance at the meeting was unannounced.

And still, the low IQ defend him.

Why doesn't the President want the taxpayers to know what he's saying? That should have been the first question the reporters asked, "Why is this meeting off the record?"

Those reporters aren't interested in reporting. They're just interested in being part of the in-crowd.

They aren't real reporters.

They're more accurately described as sycophants or scribes.

I would love to see one of those reporters report what was said, claim whistle blower protection and watch the white house scramble. They wouldnt be invited back to the white house ever again but boy it would make them a cult hero.

A little ironic inviting reporters to not report what was said.

It won't surprise me one bit if some new crisis is fabricated by O to distract the people from the scandals.
