Exactly.
That's what it's always been.

The representative quoted in the OP made the rape statement while pushing for a national 20 week aborting limit.

So, this thread is in fact about abortion.

Trent Franks:

A House Republican pushing for a 20-week nationwide ban on abortions said Wednesday that the incidence of pregnancies resulting from rape is “very low” — then scrambled to clarify his comment after it went viral with comparisons to former GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin.

“The incidence of rape resulting in pregnancy are very low,” said Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.) as the House Judiciary Committee debated his bill to ban abortions nationwide after 20 weeks including in cases of rape and incest.
I believe this might be appropriate.

This thread is to discuss the so called dumb statement the OP is babbling about. One could only hijack the thread into an abortion thread, if rape is the only reason for abortions, clearly its not.

Your hatred is showing

You might want to read up on how many rapes are never reported.

Statistics | RAINN | Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network

The majority of sexual assault are not reported to the police (an average of 54% of assaults in the last five years were not reported). Those rapists, of course, will never spend a day in prison. But even when the crime is reported, it is unlike to lead to an arrest and prosecution. Factoring in unreported rapes, only about 3% of rapists will ever serve a day in prison.

Sort of screws up Trent's statement.

again, you have it wrong. It's not dumb to discuss rape. It's dumb to make a dumb statement about pregnancy and rape.

Absolute bull. This is about protecting the life of innocent, developing human beings, not about men asserting their power over women. What about the millions of pro-life women? Are they also trying to oppress women?

If 1/2 of all assaults are not reported, this would raise the percentage to 10%, which still makes the comment correct..

p.s. assaults, dont necessarily = rape, that would also include touching, molestation, and even kissing. You arent suggesting people get pregnant from kissing, are you?

Ironic you started this thread calling others dumb.. haha
