That's true, but I believe that only the peace-loving Muslims have the power to stop the extremeists from continuing their war of hate.

I'd say we have a responsibility to help them in that objective, though. Starting wars in their countries won't help them.

Well, we've shut down Saddam's rape rooms and torture chambers. I believe that has been helpful. We've tremendously reduced the power of the Taliban in Afghanistan which has removed the oppression of women and girls in that country, for the most part. I believe that's helpful. We've eliminated a good portion of the leadership of Al Qaeda, another oppression group. Again, quite helpful. We've helped increase the power of women in Iraq to where they can vote and hold elective office, another helpful act for Muslims, IMO.

That being said, I'm not a huge fan many of the tenets of Islam as a religion, but most of its adherents are nonviolent. And I think engaging in/treating the "war on terror" as a "clash of civilizations" will have the effect of making more Muslims into Islamists.
I agree, and that's what I wanted to say: radical Islamists and Muslims aren't cut from the same cloth IMO. When watching the video I had to translate her reference of Muslims to 'extremists' because they all don't practice the art of 'jihad' when deemed necessary'

Now...that's not to say it isn't a real problem in the world and as you stated, fighting a 'war on terror' seems to yield more extremist recruits

It may not have been translated exactly, but the speaker clearly is not a practicing Muslim, and declares herself, "secular."

And while her plea is courageous, it too is not totally factual. Extremists on both sides hold the responsibility in their hands for this so-called "clash of civilisations."
