NOTHING will ignite anything if you do not strike the match..American and Russian involvement in a surrogate adventurous war will ignite something...It takes two to cause a spark...To toy with the idea of having a war with Russia via Syria will be a game played by mischievous boys with a box of matches....best to separate the striker from the match...Look into the future...Life is getting miserable - do we really need to descend further into hell?

I would ask what are the expectations after Assad's regime is removed? More Arab spring? What people think will happen in Syria? When these rebels (who are no less murderous then Assad) gain power they will probably turn on each other. The only thing that keeps them together is their hatred for Assad.
Bottom line: our intervention cannot bring relief to Syria, one way or another.
Lets mind out business.

Thousands of Egypt Islamists rally for Syria jihad
Quote:
AFP - Thousands of Islamists rallied in the Egyptian capital on Friday in support of calls by Sunni Muslim clerics for a holy war against the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

The demonstration took place outside a Cairo mosque where Saudi preacher Mohammed al-Oreifi called in a sermon for a "jihad in the cause of Allah in Syria."

Oreifi urged worshippers to "unite against their enemy."

Saudi Arabia, like Egypt, is an overwhelmingly Sunni Muslim country, and Sunnis are the backbone of the revolt against Assad, whose Alawite sect is an offshoot of Shiite Islam.

Demonstrators, most of them bearded and wearing the traditional white galabiya, shouted "there is no God but Allah, and Bashar is his enemy."

OKAY - so sometimes there is spontaneous combustion. Those who suggest there is no God but Allah are insinuating that some have other GODS - any believer realizes that God or the source is a singularity. Their Muslim chants are redundant and dated...and God has no "enemy" To say such a thing would be insinuated that God was a vulnerable human being...a concept which defies all logic...Islam is literally a concept that failed to develop in a thousand years and is stuck in an ignorant time warp....Even if all of Islam explodes into flames...We still have the means to avoid the fire. Let it burn.

Oh goodie, here we go. Thanks Democrats. The guy who can't even tell us where he was the night his ambassador was killed in Benghazi is moving troops in next to Syria. How soon before "military advisors" are in the combat zone?

It makes you wonder if Obama is trying to deflect attention from all the scandals going on.
