Free will is what makes Humans better than
animals. If gays claim (which is garbage) they are forced to act in perverted
manners they are no better than animals.
Human beings ARE animals. We don't run very fast, we don't have sharp teeth and claws, we don't have a hard outer shell, but we DID evolve to have bigger brains.
Since the turn of the millennium, support for same sex marriage has nearly doubled. A majority of Americans now support marriage equality, with the vast portion of opposition coming from seniors who...to be blunt, aren't going to be relevant for very long. The new generation supports gay marriage, and all demographic groups are warming to the idea at a historical rate. In 2002, gay marriage was illegal everywhere in the United States; now, 12 states and the district of Columbia have passed laws legalizing the once abhorred practice. Gay marriage wasn't legal anywhere in the world at the turn of 2000, but now 13 nations recognize it, and more are likely to come out within a matter of years.
So if you're a right wing fundamentalist republican, in what ridiculous fantasy of your mind do you see the anti-gay marriage crowd pulling a victory out of this? Do you suppose that this is nothing more than a short lived fad that will fall to some reactionary counterattack (which have always ended up on the wrong side of history anyhow), led by Rush Limbaugh in a properly heterosexual pope-mobile?
Politicians are deeming it politically safe to come out in support of gay marriage, because their analysts have realized that the tides of history are in its favor. What "miracle" would it take for opponents of gay marriage to stand on the right side of history?

Well the projections put forth by statistician Nate Silver shows that by 2020 there will only be six states where the majority will oppose SSM. But hard to predict when it will be legal in all 50 states.
