OK it's only Black gang wars killing each other so no big deal, right ?
People defend Chicago and say it's only a certain part of town.
Yes there may be worse in DC, NOLA, Detroit, Baltimore and a few others
You can deny but Chicago has a serious problem. Why is the drug wars so much worse there than many large cities ?
Still, there are great concerns about violent crime in Chicago, where Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old honor student, who performed at President Obama’s inauguration, was killed by a bullet while standing in a South Side playground.
Chicago’s murder rate is widely considered to be fueled by the drug wars that are fought between the city’s network of gangs. The homicide rate has been largely confined to the city’s south and west areas, African-American bastions of Chicago.
It's a safe haven (sanctuary city) for illegals. Some of these wholesome and lovable folks are directly involved in the drug trade, and have direct ties to the violent cartels in Mexico. 11 people were effortlessly abducted in Mexico City last night. Yup, that will become a common occurrence here in Chicago at the rate things are going. Thank the all knowing bleeding heart leftist thugs who ru(I)n this city. Yup, they really have our best interests in mind
In the next 5 years, we're going to be hearing off houses full of decapitated heads around these parts.
This is a story that has been covered in here before, it isn't something new that just happened. Does Chicago have a crime issue in parts of its city? Sure, but they also only effect a small portion of Chicago which makes it easier for the people there to ignore.
1) Its leaders are leftist and 2) It has a large black population 3) It's the most corrupt city in the whole country.
You can't blame it on one thing and one thing alone. It's a multitude of things that contribute to Chicago's sickness.
How is poverty not in your top 3?
Let's not forget, Chicago's middle/upper class population wasn't/isn't shy about keeping poor people out of their communities, so in Chicago there are very large housing projects (that are equal to small cities in population) that have very poor economic opportunities for residents to "move up and out."
Also, Chicago is a great and beautiful city, and residents not involved in crime don't have a whole lot to worry about.

Is the problem that the people taking part in illegal activity are often black, or that they're poor with rather bleak odds? Perhaps you should change black to poor... white people smoke crack, too.

No it has nothing to do with the fact that they are black, but I won't lose any sleep over the fact that drug dealer A shot drug dealer B in the head.... will you? As far as I'm concerned, thats just mother nature cleaning up the gene pool.

The issue with this is that Hispanics commit statistically less crime than blacks but also are significantly poorer than blacks. Based off this I can assume the culprit is not poverty.
