That's because there is tremendous power of being an incumbent. And that power ensures that our corrupt Crony Capitalist rulers stay in power.

It's almost impossible to upset a standing member of congress. 80 to 90 percent of all incumbents get reelected even though only a tiny percent of the citizens think they are doing a good job.

So what we have is a group of rulers who almost everyone says is doing a bad job, but the voters cannot get them out of those cushy jobs.

What we have today is an unmitigated disaster. Term limits would be a welcomed relief.

I think my question is, why are the American voters so stupid as to re-elect these people back in? Polls show a great disapproval, yet they keep pulling the lever for the same people. Why are the American people so stupid?

Naturally those parasites would never consider limiting themselves, so I believe it needs to be done for them.

Anyone have any cogent arguments against a 2 term limit for representatives and a single 6 year limit for Senators?
I have been a fan of 12 years and out. That's six congressional terms, or two senate terms, or one senate term and three Congressional terms, and out. Twelve years total in any combination they like.

Because your Congressman is a worthless hack and should be voted out while mine is good.

I don't know, other than an incumbent has so much power. That's why I favor one term limit.

I'd rather the Rep have one 4 year term so there is no running for re-election in two years. How could it be accomplished? I'm also for the idea that you must have executive experience (business, government, military, nonprofit) to run for President but the lawyers in the House and Senate with ambitions won't vote for that, either.

If you did that, the most powerful people in Washignton would be the aides and lobbyists.

We already have limits called elections - the problem is an uninformed and self-serving electorate. That same electorate voted for the state legislatures that will vote on the amendment.

It reduces the ability of the people to choose their own representation.

I have a good one' Pelosi wiping the drools off that old 100 yr and helping him push voting buttons. Forgot his name but they would wheel him up to vote and change his depends if they had to to get to put the screws to us again.

I'm begining to think that nothign that slithers in that House Of Ill Repute is good, not a single solitary one of the rich lobby lovign liars.I'm still mad at myself for being so dumb enough to vote all these years.

I'm also really upset with the G and R on my dad blame keyboard doing their own thing.
