I assume the cab companies must be under more regulation than Uber drivers, otherwise why such a fuss from the cab industry? Why wouldn't they just innovate and adopt a model similar to Uber and Lyft?

The cities are not making revenue off them....
Taxi Drivers feel penalized, as they should.
NYC it cost 1 million dollars a year, to get your rights back, to give someone a ride for profit.

This whole issue is so funny to me. Taxi drivers, who originally pushed for license requirements to suppress competition, are getting upset that people found a way around their crony laws...so they act like the victims. Hilarious.
