What I dont understand is why the school district sees the need to "mandate" something like this.
Our national motto is E Pluribus Unum; I don't recognize "In God We Trust" and never will.

E Pluribus Unum was good enough for our founding fathers, after all.

Our founding fathers did NOT select "In god we trust" as our national motto. That garbage didn't start up until 1956.

I don't think trusting in an imaginary sky-daddy is the "right track", but whatever.

Well, somebody should've told the folks who actually wrote the Constitution, since the word "God" doesn't appear in it once.

The wonderful thing about America is that it has a secular government with a godless constitution. If there's anything worth defending about America, that's it.

Your post inspired me to do some research on the issue and after reading the history of our motto, I agree with you.

It never should have changed.

I agree; I think that our original motto is a much more suitable motto that brings everyone together, as opposed to "in god we trust" which excludes those of us who don't believe in god.
