Exodus International, a large Christian ministry that claimed to offer a "cure" for homosexuality, plans to shut down.
The closure comes less than a day after Exodus released a statement apologizing to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community for years of undue judgment, by the organization and from the Christian Church as a whole.

I think there is already a thread on this, but yes ... great news, good riddance. Also, while it doesn't heal or make up for the damage done over the decades, the apology and some of the things said were nice to see admitted and said.

Definitely agree. We're all wrong from time to time and we have to admit our mistakes to grow.
Until the late 1990s/early 2000s, discrimination against homosexuals was fairly commonplace in nearly all areas of American society. The stigma has lessened substantially in recent years, due in part to the coming out of popular celebrities, news anchors, and such. Though many social conservatives would blame the Obama administration on homosexuality's increasing acceptance, the only major pro-gay policy he enacted was the abolition of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" in the military. That opened the door for soldiers to come out.
My point is if these conversion therapies really did work, mainstream medicine would have incorporated them into common accepted practice. Due to social stigma, a high demand for such therapies ("cures") would have existed.
Exodus International did good work, but in the end the gay army hated it's message of hope and recovery so much that it forced EI to disband.
Shame on the gay army - and may those who struggle with homosexuality be able to get help nevertheless.
No such thing as "recovery".
You're either gay or you're not.
