Shrug who knows. Maybe he thought GZ only meant to lay a hassle on him. Maybe he was thinking in a stand up fight he could take GZ? Maybe he was a bit stupid. We will never know because he is dead.
I'm starting to think that the Defense strategy in this trial is "smoke screening." This opening statement is so bad and so "detailed" that it seems designed to confuse this jury. I think we will see "confusing" evidence from the Defense. It seems that they really don't have a good defense, know it, and have decided that the best approach is to try to confuse the jury. Smoke screening strategies do work in criminal trials.
The more boring details you readily acknowledge, it tend to disarm them, and they are forgotten as not material. Juries tend to give little credence to things not in contention, especially the way defense is delivering it.

You explained repeatedly that GZ broke no law in his harassment of TM. I agree he broke no law.
Will you agree that had GZ done what he was told to do that most likely no shooting would have happened?
No one else was there that night. So far, none of the facts suggest murder, let alone first degree murder. If Trayvon wasnt white, and you couldnt call Zimmerman a "white" hispanic, would the media and liberals had even given a damn about this? Most of them wouldve have said much of anything about it.
Unless there is some bombshell evidence that the State has managed to keep secret so far, I hope he is found not guilty and can only imagine how the media/liberals are going to react.
